clerk of the Council and upon the giving of any such notice
such person may be seconded from that service of the
Government to the service of the Council.

(2) A person so becoming the officer or servant of the
Council as aforesaid shall, in the absence of any agreement
to the contrary, hold his office by the same tenure and upon
the same terms and conditions as if this Ordinance had not
been enacted, and while performing the same duties, shall
receive not less salary or remuneration, and be entitled to
not less pension (if any), than he would have if this
Ordinance had not been enacted, and where any such officer
can only be removed with the consent or upon the decision of
the Secretary of State, the Governor or the Governor in
Council, such consent shall be part of the tenure of his office.
(3) The Council may distribute the business to be
performed by persons so transferred as aforesaid and by persons
seconded from the service of the Government to the Council in
such manner as the Council may think just and every such
person shall perform such duties in relation to that business
as may be directed by the Council.
(4) The Council may abolish the office of any person so
transferred as aforesaid whose office they may deen
unnecessary, but such officer shall be entitled to have
compensation paid to him by the Council in like manner as if
his office had been abolished while he remained in the service
of the Government.
(5) A person so transferred as aforesaid may continue to
contribute under the Widows' and Orphans' Pension Ordinance,
1908, from the date of his ceasing to hold office in the
service of the Government on the salary which he was
receiving at the date of such transfer, at the same rate and
subject to the same terms as if he had continued in the servic,
of the Government and continued to receive the salary which he
was receiving at the date of such transfer.
